PALLIATIVE MEDICINE AS A KEY ELEMENT OF THE UKRAINIAN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM REFORMING

Abstract
The article describes the results of the analysis of national and international scientific literature, legal acts, statistical data, which define the relevance and the way the system of palliative care in Ukraine. It was determined the relevance of contemporary and accessible system of palliative medicine to the national health system. By using the system of multi-disciplinary approach system of palliative medicine are able to satisfy fully the needs of palliative care patients and to fulfill its primary purpose which is to improve the life quality. The main components of successful palliative care are multi-disciplinary approach, government support, and the availability of drugs for palliative patients. To the composition of multidisciplinary teams of palliative assistance it is necessary to involve health and social workers, psychologists, clergy and volunteers, who have received special training. Creation of a modern system of palliative care will help to solve the main problem of domestic medicine, such as improving the quality of life and socialization of patients with incurable diagnosis, the health care system’s optimization, and deepen cooperation between the doctors themselves and the public.
