Parameter Adjustment of Pulse Coupled Neural Networks Based on White Pixels Evaluation

Abstract

This paper presents a new method to automatic stop the iteration of Pulse Coupled Neural Networks. (PCNN) by evaluating the numbers of white pixels. The PCNN is used to segment the image which has object and background. This paper showed how to use PCNN to resolve object and background by adjusting two parameters, linking coefficient and number of iteration based on numbers of white pixels in iterated images or binary images. The results of experiments showed the number of iteration for 2 images is opposite one and other, in the first image number of iteration is small or in early iteration the white pixels is saturated and in the second image the number of operation is large compare to first one, or the white pixels is saturated after a couple of iteration.
