Partial agonist efficacy of EMD386088, a 5-HT6 receptor ligand, in functional in vitro assays.
Journal Title: Pharmacological Reports - Year 2013, Vol 65, Issue 4
Abstract
Over recent years, the 5-hydroxytryptamine6 (5-HT6) receptor has emerged as a promising molecular target which interacts with several central nervous system acting drugs. In animal models, both agonists and antagonists of this receptor exhibit equivalent potency and efficacy as potential antidepressants, anxiolytics and anti-obesity or anti-dementia drugs. EMD386088 (5-chloro-2-methyl-3-(1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-4-pyridinyl)-1H-indole hydrochloride) has been described as a high affinity 5-HT6 receptor ligand with a full agonist activity and with moderate affinity for 5-HT3 sites.

Functional characterization of the cAMP-binding proteins Epac in cardiac myocytes.
The cyclic AMP (cAMP)-binding proteins, Epac, are guanine nucleotide exchange factors for the Ras-like small GTPases. Since their discovery in 1998 and with the development of specific Epac agonists, many data in the lit...
Anticonvulsant and antidepressant activity of the selected terpene GABA derivatives in experimental tests in mice.
The present study was designed to investigate the central nervous system activity of terpene GABA (and piracetam) derivatives designated as BF-1, BF-2, BF-3, BF-4, BF-5, BF-6. We assessed their anticonvulsant activity in...
Effects of neurosteroids on the human corticotropin-releasing hormone gene.
Increased activity of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and hypersecretion of corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) are known to be important factors in pathogenesis of some stress-related diseases. Some neuroste...
Residual fraction of the area under the curve as a qualitative criterion in pharmacokinetic studies.
The aim of the present study was to determine whether the residual area under the curve (AUC(res%); expressed as % of total value of AUC) could be used as a parameter for the qualitative evaluation of pharmacokinetic stu...
Reductive metabolism of the sanguinarine iminium bond by rat liver preparations.
Background: Sanguinarine (SA) is a quaternary benzo[c]phenanthridine alkaloid that is mainly present in the Papaveraceae family. SA has been extensively studied because of its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antitumor,...
