PATRONAGE SOCIETIES’ ASSISTANCE TO FAMILIES OF PRISONERS AND RELEASED FROM PENITENTIARIES IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE ХІХth – EARLY ХХth CENTURIES

Abstract
The components of patronage societies’ assistance to the families of prisoners and released from penitentiaries are considered. It was found that such families were provided with material and financial support. Children of parents-prisoners were helped by specially created societies, establishments of the Office of the Empress Maria, Olgin shelters and other charitable institutions. The issues of support for this category of families were discussed at penitentiary congresses, conferenses, had been reflected in the legislation.
