PCSK9 Inhibitors: Changing face of dyslipidemia management

Journal Title: JOURNAL OF MEDICAL COLLEGE CHANDIGARH - Year 2016, Vol 6, Issue 1

Abstract

Dyslipidemia is one of the major risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease and mortality thereof. A novel drug group, PCSK9 inhibitors has been proven to be highly effective in managing difficult dyslipidemias which are familial or do not respond to statins or combination antihyperlipidemic agents. Two drugs from this group, Alirocumab and evolocumab have been approved by US FDA.
