PECULARITIES OF SCIENTIFIC TEXT AND AUTHOR MODELS OF ITS INTERPRETATION

Abstract

The article deals with the main approaches to the understanding of the scientific text as a result of the thinking and speech activity of the author and interpreter, which is manifested through verbalized and background knowledge. It is noted that the specifics of the scientific and technical text are based on the accuracy of the judgments and authority of the conclusions and the postulates, as well as the aspiration of the author (addressee) to persuade the recipient of the stability of his own position. The article outlines the formal characteristics of the scientific and technical text: structural completeness and concreteness; formal conciseness and laconicalness, with which the grammatical structure of the written speech is connected; individual style of the author; strict compliance with the norms of the literary language; method of presentation (description, narration, discretion); the degree of completeness of presentation (compressibility, reduction, completeness, deployment); the level of generalization, depending on the nature of the recipient (highly specialized, wide-ranging, general-science, popular science, etc.) The peculi- arities, tasks and stages of the translation of the scientific and technical text are characterized: knowledge of the general logic of original text presentation; high theoretical training, knowledge of the essence of the problem; correct understanding and reproduction of the original content (selection of exact equivalents of terms and commonly used words). The main stylistic and linguistic features of scientific texts are emphasized on, in particular: high frequency of use of terms, abstractly generalized presentation, logical, unambiguous and conciseness in the transmission of information, nominative character of the scientific language, frequent use of passive structures. The article gives the differentiation of translations: informative translation (gen- eral acquaintance with the content of the text in a foreign language); accurate translation (detailed acquaintance with the con- tent); the most accurate (legally certified translation for official documents and laws); literal; adequate; abstract; annotative.
