PECULIARITIES OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING IN UKRAINE

Abstract
The article presents the results of the research of features of the economic development of mechanical engineering in Ukraine. The role of machine building in the economy of the country and the share of the industry in the structure of industry are determined. The ranking of regions of the country in terms of the degree of sensitivity to changing the situation in the markets for machine building products is determined on the basis of the share of mechanical engineering in the volume of industrial products sold. The comparative characteristic of the whole industry and the mechanical engineering industry is presented on the main results of the activity. The impact of the crisis on the industry is determined on the basis of comparison of the main indicators of the work of mechanical engineering enterprises in the pre-crisis period of 2013 and in 2015, the second since the beginning of the economic crisis. The analysis of statistics shows that 2014 was the hardest for the industry as a whole and for machine building. But in the next 2015 year, the machine builders managed to turn the situation and strengthen their positions. The dynamics of the share of machinery production in industry testifies to a decrease in the role of the machine-building industry in the domestic economy. In the course of the study, it was found that in the conditions of destabilization of the economic situation in the country, the financial results of activities of machine-building enterprises show a greater stability than the industry as a whole. And relative indicators (indices of production volumes, profitability) on the contrary show greater volatility of mechanical engineering than the whole industry. The research identified the main issues that are hampering the development of mechanical engineering today and listed the main ways of sector development.
