PEDAGOGICAL CONDITIONS OF PREPARATION OF FUTURE GEOLOGISTSIN COLLEGES FOR USING THE GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Abstract

The article substantiates the pedagogical conditions of future geologists’ training on use of geographic information systems in future professional activity, that promotes the acquisition of vocational and professional knowledge, skills and abilities, special and specific technologies for their professional activity. Pedagogical conditions are defined as a set of favorable pedagogical circumstances in colleges deliberately created by educators for the purposeful training of future geologists to use the geographic information systems in future professional activities. It is stressed that they should have the following aspects of their professional training: methodological – main guiding ideas and principles for conducting their professional training as competency, subject-activity, informational and system approaches; theoretical – goals, principles, content, appropriate general learning outcomes and the specific ones on using the geographic information systems in their future professional activities; methodical – main methods, technologies, means and methods of their implementation for future geologists’ training to use geo-information systems in their future professional activities; practical – the availability of modern material and technical base that meets the requirements of the information society and the specifics of the graduates’ future professional activities. The substantiated pedagogical conditions create optimal conditions for future geologists’ training to use the geo-information systems. These are the following: 1) pedagogical modeling of future geologists’ training in colleges to use the geo-information systems; 2) the availability of a modern comprehensive methodology for future geologists’ training in colleges to use the geo-information systemsby means of modern ICT; 3) providing self-management for future geologists’ educational activities, that is, creating conditions for their subjectivity in educational and cognitive activities; 4) the use of objective criteria for assessing the levels of the future geologists’ training to use the geographic information systems in future professional activities.
