Pediatric Cardiac Transplant in India: What a Pediatrician Should Know?

Abstract
Heart failure is one of the major causes of high morbidity and mortality. In infants and children, heart failure can develop as a consequence to a many number of complex cyanotic heart diseases and cardiomyopathies. In these conditions, heart transplantation offers a definitive cure . With increasing awareness and recognition of these conditions, pediatric heart transplantation is slowly shaping up in India. This review briefly describes the indications and selection criteria for pediatric heart transplantation in children.
