Perceptions of Psychological Counselor Working in High Schools About Crisis Situations Experienced in Schools

Abstract
During education and training process, the period that developmental and traumatic problems of adolescence become intense is high-school term. Potential problems/crisis of this period are menarche, sexual intercourse experience, admission to university, conflict with parents about life style, break off relationship with opposite sex, indecisiveness about choice of profession, and (un)success. This study aims to put forward how psychological counselors define crisis situations, their perceptions of competence about coping with these crisis and their suggestions. Sample consists of 46 psychological counselors working in high schools in central districts of Malatya during 2013-2014 education and training term. Semi-structured interview techniques were used as data collection method. Content analysis that is one of qualitative analysis method was used to analyze datas collected. As a result of the research, it was found that psychological counselors were not enough about crisis and crisis intervention.
