Perfil Clínico - Epidemiológico de pacientes pediátricos intervenidos con diagnóstico de testículo no descendido en el Hospital de Temuco 2002 - 2005

Abstract
AIM: To establish a clinical and epidemiological profile of pediatric patients operated with diagnosis of undescended testis between 2002 and 2005. METHODS: Retrospective review of clinical histories of 335 patients operated in that period. RESULTS: Average of age at the moment of diagnosis of 53,5 months. Average of age at the moment of the surgery of 66,3 months; 70,4% were from urban places, 74,6% without mapudungun last names; 96,2% were included in FONASA. Average of time between diagnosis and surgery was 16,3 months; 71,6% with compromise of only one testicle, 85,4% were touched at inguinal channel; 5,7% were nonpalpable testis. It was concommitant with fimosis and/or inguinal hernias in 68,1%. It was an ambulatory procedure in 89,6%. CONCLUSIONS: Late age of diagnosis in relation with national and international publications. We suggest control since adolescency in whom the age of diagnosis was posterior to national recommendations.
