Performance and Stability Analysis of Series Cascaded High gain Interleaved Boost Converter for Photovoltaic applications

Journal Title: Power Electronics and Drives - Year 2018, Vol 2018, Issue 1

Abstract

Interleaved boost converters (IBC) are cascaded with more numbers in parallel for most of the applications. A novel approach is attempted to connect IBC in series cascaded. The maximum advantage of IBC has when it is operated at the duty cycle is at 0.5. Normally photo voltaic source voltage is low, in order to boost the conventional boost converter is replaced with IBC and with this converter also it becomes double with duty cycle 0.5. In the proposed converter output voltage is about four times the input voltage with the same duty cycle. A mathematical model is developed and simulated for the proposed work with MATLAB/SIMULINK platform. The Simulink blocks are used in order to make simulation is independent of both simulation solver and runtime has been shown with simulation results. The proposed circuit is analyzed through a Fast Fourier Transform to know the effect of harmonics, because of the switching. The system is tested for stability also with signal flow graph modeling. The proposed work is realized by the development of hardware and tested about 180W with the efficiency of about 85%.
