Phenomenon of Testimony and the Practice of Attention in Simone Weil’s Philosophy

Abstract
The analysis of the concept of attention centered of Simone Weil’ theory of roots is important for two reasons: firstly, it allows to conceptualize the role of testimony in Weil’ philosophy of action; secondly, attention has a key meaning for revealing Weil’s idea of saintliness which combines the pole of the personal action with the pole that the action reveals in a particular social context. The idea of the incarnated truth in the light of the need of roots, as well as the polemics with Maritain about the nature of saintliness reveal the practical importance of attention in the philosophy of S. Weil.
