PHENOMENON OF THE LUBRICATION MECHANISM OF HUMAN HIP JOINTS
Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2011, Vol 235, Issue 1
Abstract
The problem concerned with the explanation of a perfect lubrication mechanism is presented in this research. This mechanism has neither been described nor used in any other bearing nodes so far. The major consideration has been based on the identification of friction conditions and lubrication in proper hip joints. The study includes three-dimensional determination of the geometric configuration of cooperating hip joint surfaces, the shape of joint gap, multilayer cartilaginous and bone structures, and additional cartilage structures supporting the lubrication. In the lubrication process, the important role intercepts synovial fluid for which there were made reological and tribological tests. The modelling and simulation of contact using finite element methods (FEM) were made. This simulation shows the mechanism other than in technical condition lubrication. Such a mechanism is characteristic of human hip joints.

EVALUATION OF THE LUBRICATION EFFICIENCY OF GREASES ACCORDING TO CRITERION OF WEAR EXPERIMENTALLY DETERMINED AT VARIABLE VALUES OF MOTION PARAMETERS
The results of tribological investigations into the lubrication efficiency of greases in steel sliding pairs working in mixed friction conditions are presented. The lubrication efficiency was evaluated according to the c...
MODELING THE THERMAL PHENOMENA IN THE FRICTION PROCESS OF THE SLIDING BEARING
Thermal imaging tests allow for precise location of improperly operating elements of machines and devices. This is particularly important in elements of bearing systems where relative rotational movement causes the relea...
SELF-LUBRICATING PROPERTIES OF THIN COATINGS BASED ON MOLYBDENUM DISULPHIDE
The paper presents an analysis of the friction and wear processes of a composite coating based on molybdenum disulphide doped by tungsten and titanium, taking into account the impact of load and temperature in the contac...
SEARCH FOR THE MOST USEFUL GEOMETRY OF AN ACOUSTIC JOURNAL BEARING
Computer simulations of a number of journal bearing’s geometries utilising acoustic levitation were carried out. The choice of the best geometry depended on the ability of a deformed shape, created by piezo-electric elem...
THE INFLUENCE OF THE CONDITION OF THE SURFACE LAYER ON TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES SPHEROIDAL FERRITIC CAST IRON AFTER PRESSING
In this paper the results of the investigations of tribological properties of cast iron after grinding and pressing have been presented. The experiment was conducted by the help of the machine Amsler 135. As a lubricant...
