PHILOSOPHICAL FOUNDATIONS OF BYZANTINE ICONOGRAPHY TRANSFORMATION IN THE TERRYTORY OF KIEVAN RUS

Abstract

This article reveals philosophical foundations of transformation of Byzantine iconography in the territory of Kievan Rus. To this end, peculiarities of contemporary philosophical thoughts were analyzed, and changes of philosophical intentions of the latter were emphasized. Against this background it was found that Christian context of philosophical thinking of educated Rus population is closely correlated with the reinterpretation of the Old Testament prospective, with content that was closer to deeply rooted in outlook to pagan ideas. The icons of Kyiv painting school masters became the visualization of ideological transformations of Kievan Rus Christianity. Here, in contrast to Byzantine iconography the images of the saints have tried to bring to a man.
