Photo Catalytic Degradation of p- Nitro Aniline using Semiconductor ZnO and H2O2

Abstract

Photo catalytic degradation of chemical pollutant in water was investigated for various parameters such as pH (4.0-9.0), irradiation time (0.0-150min.), light intensity (40.0-90.0mW/cm2 ), concentration of substrate (2.0mM-30.0mM), concentration of catalyst (0.06-0.26grams) and concentration of H2O2(0.05-0.30mL/h) etc. The p- Nitro Aniline acts as a substrate, ZnO acts as a photo catalyst and H2O2 used as an accelerator. The photo catalytic degradation of 1mM P- Nitro Aniline is optimum at pH 6.5, light intensity 70 mW/cm2 , with concentration of ZnO is 0.20grams and conc. of H2O2 is 0.20mL/h respectively.
