Physical and mental exhaustion’s incidence in health personnel of the Guayaquil Uni-versity Hospital, pilot test

Abstract
The physical and mental exhaustion in the neonatal intensive care health personnel of the Gyneco-obstetric and Pediatric University Hospital of Guayaquil, in the period from August 2019 to May 2020, leads to an inappropriate li-festyle and a direct impact on the spheres biological, psychological, ecological and social of the individual who suffers it and his family framework. This research process proposes to know the effects on health, of physical and mental exhaustion, in the different affective spheres of interpersonal relationships such as family, social and especially work, as well as the degree of job satisfaction of health professionals. Objective: The objective of this study is to determine the incidence of physical and mental exhaustion in the health personnel of the neonatal intensi-ve care of the University Hospital. Materials and methods: The type of research was field, cross-sectional and descriptive. The technique was the multiple-choice survey and an open question interview. The instruments validated were questionnaire-type and the other open-ended question script. The collected information and into entered in a database, was pro-cessed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), version 25.0. To process the data used, mainly, descriptive statistics and the triangulation. Results:When asked if they feel that their work leads them to present physical and men-tal exhaustion, the study sample revealed that 13.3% always, 20% usually, 60% so-metimes and 6.7% never. Conclusion: In conclusion, that if there is a high inciden-ce of physical and mental exhaustion in health professionals in the neonatal intensive care unit of the Guayaquil University Hospital in the period 2019-2020
