Journal Title: Journal of Medical Science And clinical Research - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 7
Abstract
Pregnancy is often associated with ocular changes which may be more commonly transient and occasionally permanent. The ocular effects of pregnancy may be physiological or pathological or may be modifications of pre - existing conditions. The physiological changes affect multiple organ systems including the visual system. Alt hough ocular changes are common in pregnancy, many are mild, temporary, and require little to no treatment. However, it is important to recognize that s erious ophthalmic pathology can occur which requires immediate medical intervention. The various effects of pregnancy on the eye will be reviewed throughout this article.
