Abstract
In the article, is given the classification and the composition of food fibers, are shown their multifunctional properties, preventive and therapeutic role in the process of digestion, examined the physiological value of food fibers for the human organism is made conclusion about the need for the consumption of food fibers by man during his entire life. The analysis of world production and consumption of food fiber sources were available, are the main producers and consumers. In the food and pharmaceutical production of drugs widely used as natural food fibers, as well as from natural raw materials by various chemical modifications.
