Plans: Unlocking Readiness and Interest of Asian Studies Students

Abstract
This action research aimed to unlock the readiness and interests of students in learning Asian Studies subject through the use of the Pre-Learning Activities and Necessary Strategies or PLANS intervention program. Pre-learning activities were assigned for the students to accomplish every before the discussion proper of a topic. Survey was conducted using 4-point Likert Scale and structured questions. A total weighted mean of 3.02 was garnered indicating a high level of behavioral engagement from students after the implementation. The study employed a dual method approach, incorporating qualitative data. The qualitative findings revealed proficiency in learning the subject and readiness and confidence to engage in the class discussion. Themes emerged regarding the intervention's improvement include the employment interactive group-based activities and conduct of the pre-learning activities in a face-to-face learning modality. Summing up the results from both quantitative and qualitative date have manifested a significant positive impact in unlocking the readiness of students in learning Asian Studies.
