Journal Title: MedPulse -International Medical Journal - Year 2015, Vol 2, Issue 1

Abstract

Objectives: To know the variation in platelet count between the normal pregnancy and PIH and to correlate the fetomaternal outcome with the platelet count. Methods: Study group included 100 women with PIH, control group included 50 normal pregnant women from ANC clinic and inpatient ward in BRIMS Hospital Bidar. Blood samples were taken and platelet counting done by Auto analysis and manual method in third Trimester. Counts in normal pregnant women and PIH were compared. Result: Lowered platelet count is a prognostic index in PIH. Conclusion: Lowered platelet count is directly proportional to severity of disease and feto maternal outcome.
