Abstract
Analysis of artistic poems, written in the period of Azerbaijan’s independence, has shown that there are some deviations from classical poems. First of all, there are differences in the form and structure of these works. The analyzed works of such authors as Zelimkhan Yagub, Nariman Hasanzadeh, Jabir Novruz, Musa Alekperli, Fikrat Goja, Nabi Khazri show originality of their themes and forms. The main topic of the poems in the years of independence was dedicated to the problems and realities lived by the country in this period. In particular, historical characters and war in Karabakh were the main topics of artistic expression.
