Polarographic study of cadmium at dropping mercury electrode using 2-Amino-3-hydroxy propanoic acid as complexing agent and KCl as supporting electrolyte

Abstract
The reduction of Cd (II) at dropping mercury electrode in presence of vatious supporting electrolytes such as acetic acid ammonium acetate, ammonia – ammonium chloride, potassium carbonate, hydrochloric acid, saturated citric acid, potassium cyanide, ethylene diamine, EDTA, glutamic acid, saturated hydrazine, sodium hydroxide, hydroxyl amine, malonic acid, ammonia – ammonium oxalate, phosphoric acid, pyridine, ammonium tartrate, potassium thiocyanate, triethanolamic have been studied. The polarographic behavior of Cd(II) in various supporting electrolytes i.e., ethylenediamine – potassium hydroxide (1956), diethylene triamine and monoethanol amine (1971) have been reported. The polarographic behavior of Cd(II) has been studied in some nitrogenous compounds such as diaminocyclohexane, p-sulfamido-benzoic acid, p-amino hippuric acid, L-lysine (1983), polyethylene polymine but a survey of literature shows that the complexes of cadmium with E-caprolactam have not been studied. In this paper complexing agent used is 2-amino-3-hydroxy propanoic acid
