POLISH PORTS IN THE SERVICE OF SLOVAKIAN FOREIGN TRADE CARGO

Journal Title: Biuletyn Instytutu Morskiego - Year 1996, Vol 23, Issue 2

Abstract

Slovakia is one of the most important transit partners of Polish sea ports. During the last years, the volume of Slovakian transit stays at a level of about 1 min. tonnes per year. However, in conditions of strong competition from other ports, Polish shippers and land and sea carriers, participating in the service of Slovakian transit, must undertake active operations, not only in order to maintain the present level of Polish participation in the servicing of overseas trade of Slovakia, but also in order to attract additional volumes of Slovakian cargo onto the transport route leading through Polish ports.
