Journal Title: Eminak - Year 2017, Vol 2, Issue 2

Abstract

The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the main events in political and legal relations between Ukraine and Great Britain. The author comes to the conclusion that at the beginning of the 21st century, the formation of an appropriate juridical base that creates effective legal and economic prerequisites for the successful development of large-scale, mutually beneficial cooperation between states acquires great importance for the development of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Great Britain. The most important in the history of political and legal relations between Ukraine and the United Kingdom are the Treaty on the Principles of Relations and Cooperation between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Ukraine; the Convention between Government of Ukraine and Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on Avoidance of Double Taxation; the Intergovernmental agreement between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Ukraine on the promotion and mutual protection of investments. The existing bilateral treaties create a broad political and legal framework for the development of Ukrainian-British relations in key areas of mutual cooperation. The author determined that all Ukrainian-British agreements and treaties are aimed at promoting political and socio-economic reform in Ukraine and its entry into Western European and regional structures and institutions.
