Abstract

This article sheds light on the current state of the study carried out by Ukrainian historians of the problem of politi-cal repressions in the Dnieper region in the years 1918–1928.The main aim of the article is to analyze the main histori-ographical approaches to the study of a given problem, the degree of its scientific development, as well as the prospects for further investigation of the forms, methods and consequences of implementing the repressive policy of the Soviet state against the population of Dnieper region in the years 1918–1928. The present study is based on two fundamental principles of historical research: scientific objectivity and histori-cism.The analysis of scholarly writings on this topic allowed the author to form four historiographical groups:archeographic publications; scientific publications about the history periods of the Soviet Union in which histo-rians touched upon the problem of political repressions in the Dnieper region;scientific papers in which political re-pressions in the Dnieper region were a separate subject of research;articles, in which, the information about repres-sions in the Dnieper region is given in the context of the struggle of the Bolsheviks with members of competing socialist and national-communist parties. In each of the groups, the author identified both achievements and opportunities for further investigation.Besides, the article is based on the analysis of scientific works, which are devoted to this problem. It is shown that the repression of the Soviet state against the population of the Dnieper region was directed, first of all to any form of resistance and its adaptation to the Soviet model of governance.
