POLITICIZATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL UNDERSTANDING: GREEN POLITICS AND TURKEY

Abstract
Because of the increasing environmental problems after the industrial revolution threatening the existence of live and lifeless environment, it has led to the question of environmental damage and the emergence of environmental understanding. Especially in developed countries, environmentalist discourses and environmentalist movements started to gain speed. At last, environmental organizations and green parties with environmentalist understanding started to be established. The study of the politics of environmentalism in politics revealed the concept of green vision in politics. This understanding that exists in World Politics also finds its place in Turkey. In this study, the concept of environmentalism, the emergence of environmental understanding and the process of politicization, and the development of environmental understanding in Turkey and politicization will be discussed.
