Polskie czasopisma emigracyjne wspierające edukację w Wielkiej Brytanii w latach 1946–2017
Journal Title: Przegląd Historyczno-Oświatowy - Year 2017, Vol 0, Issue 1
Abstract
The article discusses Polish pedagogical journals published in Great Britain in the 20 th and 21st century. Periodicals for children and teenagers served as a teaching aid in Polish Saturday schools all over the world. First magazines of this kind were published during World War II, and some of them are still being published nowadays. The most important ones are school journals as well as magazines for teenagers, scouts and teachers, such as “Nasze Pisemko”, “Dziatwa”, “Wychowanie Ojczyste”, “Ono”, “Gazetka Szkolna”, “Razem Młodzi Przyjaciele”, “Na Tropie”, “Ogniwa”, “Węzełek”, “Wiadomości Nauczycielskie” and “Wychowanie Ojczyste”. They are used by parents and the educational institutions overseen by the Association of Polish Teachers Abroad (Związek Nauczycielstwa Polskiego za Granicą) and the Polish Educational Society (Polska Macierz Szkolna). Their goal is to help develop the national identity of Polish young people living abroad – to teach them their mother tongue, national pride and Christian faith in order to make them social and cultural activists for the sake of Polish independence in the future.
