Постмодернистские поиски истины об Иуде в Бестселлере Юрия Давыдова
Journal Title: Slavia Orientalis - Year 2014, Vol 0, Issue 4
Abstract
This text is an attempt of interpretation of Judas' plot in Yuri Davidov's Bestseller in postmodern context what is possible because of deconstruction act of Judas' myth achieved by analysis of the intertextual connections between the Gospel and such literary works as like For Judas by A. Roslavev, Favorite disciple by Yuri Nagibin, Judas Iscariot by Leonid Andreev, Iscariot by Nikolay Golovanov and unknown Liliac manuscript by Evno Azef. A lack of psychological motivation of Judas' behavior in the New Testament provokes various speculations (usually conflicting with Christian doctrine), affirming postmodern and pluralistic approach to myth. Judas becomes a friend, guardian, associate of Jesus and his betrayal is being recognized as an attempt to save his Master. Davydov transforms the myth into literary character and the intertextual discourse allows him to find the essence of this particular myth and describe the universality of the phenomenon of betrayal. The story of Judas in this novel mixes with Russian and Soviet Union history as well as with the writer's lot and invites to existential reflection within this aspect and propels to self-confrontation with the betrayer figure.
