PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF FORMING FUTURE PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS’ SPEAKING CORRECTNESS

Abstract

The article reveals aspects of forming future primary school teachers’ speaking correctness. The research discloses the idea that professional speaking and communication skills of a person determine her or his speech behaviour. Nowadays the problem of forming the speaking correctness as a basic communicative feature of future primary school teachers is relevant. We support scientists’ opinion that language competence is an important component of communicative competence. Forming orphoepic competence determines the content and purpose of the article. In addition, the author connects the process of forming the correctness of spoken language to the concepts: “linguistic norm”, “linguistic education”, “orphoepic norms”, “speech culture”, which are historically formed and developed by literary tradition. The purpose of our study is to outline the methodology of developing spoken language skills and forming future primary school teachers’ orphoepic skills of Ukrainian speech. One of the important features of the speech culture is its compliance with orphoepic norms. Orphoepic work should not be included into the system of learning spontaneously and episodically – the correct literary pronunciation should be taught as regularly as spelling. Students need to know the phonetic system of the Ukrainian language and the basic points of articulation of vowels and consonant sounds for the implementation of orphoepic tasks. The formation of orphoepic skills occurs through a system of exercises. Depending on the direction in which information is received or given, exercises can be receptive, reproductive and productive. The author notes that the effectiveness of forming the correctness of speech increases, if you use the specially designed exercises and tasks in the educational process. The article suggests a system of training tasks of different character for developing orphoepic skills and the acquisition of speech skills by future primary school teachers. The following methods are used for solving the set goal: the theoretical ones are the study and analysis of scientific and methodological literature, generalization of information for defining theoretical and methodological foundations of the research. The proposed exercises can be used while writing methodological recommendations, term papers, and in the professional activity of primary school teachers.
