Practical Implementation and Performance Analysis of Improved-DSR Protocol using ZigBee in Wireless Sensor Network
Journal Title: International Journal of Electronics Communication and Computer Technology - Year 2015, Vol 5, Issue 4
Abstract
Wireless sensor networks are self-configuring network of mobile and static nodes connected by wireless link. The communication in WSN is uncertain because established route can be broken anytime. A lot of delay occurs between active route breakage and new route discovery, causing the loss of data packets. In our proposed algorithm (Improved-DSR), we minimize the probability of breaking of current route. Proposed algorithm makes use of one level of threshold on received signal strength for each node at the time of route formation to enhance the reliability of discovered route. Secondly, Power alert messages broadcasted by nodes going in power drain out condition helps in route maintenance. Another good point is that the work is performed practically using XBEE S2 modules and MATLAB is used as interfacing software and the performance of proposed algorithm is analyzed in terms of throughput, route discovery time and algorithm complexity. A close analysis of proposed algorithm proves that it discover the route with best RSS hops.
