Preliminary Assessment of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons Associated to Airborne PM10 in Győr, Hungary
Journal Title: Acta Technica Jaurinensis - Year 2015, Vol 8, Issue 1
Abstract
The aim of this study was to assess the ambient concentrations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) associated to the PM10 aerosol fraction in an urban site of Győr, Hungary in 2011. The levels of total PAHs and the individual compounds show large variability during the sampling periods. The total PAH concentrations ranged from 0.88 ng/m3 to 95.80 ng/m3 with the mean value of 20.06 ng/m3. Four and five-rings PAHs were the dominant species in the samples. The levels of carcinogenic PAH species (benzo[a]pyrene, benz[a]anthracene, sum of the three benzofluoranthene isomers, indeno[1,2,3-c,d]pyrene and dibenz[a,h]anthracene) determined were compared with published data of other Hungarian cities. The potential carcinogenic risks of PAHs were also estimated.

Analysation of the Effect of the Contact Properties on Soil’s Penetration Resistance in Discrete Element Simulations
Cone penetration in-situ tests are commonly used to measure the cone index of the soils. This measurement process can be modelled very well with Discrete Element Method (DEM) if the parameters of the correct contact mode...
Iterative Calibration of VISSIM Simulator Based on Genetic Algorithm
In the recent decade, computer simulation has been developed enormously in all engineering fields and has become a basic step of design. Accordingly, simulation plays a fundamental role in road traffic engineering offeri...
A New Metaheuristic Optimization Algorithm, the Weighted Attraction Method
The paper presents a novel, particle behavior--based metaheuristic global optimization method. The idea behind the algorithm is based on attraction between particles, and in some aspects it is similar to the particle swa...
Prediction of Electromagnetic Fields around High Voltage Transmission Lines
The electric and magnetic fields are present around the High Voltage Transmisssion Lines (HVTL) and reported to affect health of the workers working on these hotlines. The key parameter reportedly responsible for detrime...
Estimating the Thermal Bridge at Wall Corners with Artificial Neural Network
Nowadays there are several software products to simulate the heat transfer at thermal bridges. These sophisticated tools are mostly based on Finite Difference or Finite Element Methods. However, there is a demand from e...
