Journal Title: Український соціум - Year 2016, Vol 3, Issue 58
Abstract
The goal of this article is to examine continuity and change in individual integral identities of ordinary residents of Lviv and Donetsk in the period since 1994 till 2010 in the context of the commonality degree with one of 14 social groups of the Ukrainian society. These groups have been identified by professional, ethno-national, religious, political, demographic characteristics and status, which indirectly reflected the elements of the social structure of Ukrainian society during the period in question. To find what were the real clusters of individual identities among lvivians and donetskians we have used factor analysis with the rotation of Component Matrix by the method of Varimax with Kaiser Normalization. Comparative analysis of components extracted in 1994 and in 2010 showed a significant set of stable trends and few changes in the parameters of studied variables. In the formation of the structures of individual integral identities of representatives of both regional centers there were, firstly, the weak crystallization of classical social groups and awareness of their social attitudes, and secondly, preservation of the focus on paternalism, which was based on significant distancing of respondents from the rich and businessmen, as well as on their weak support of reformers or even active opposition to them. During the period of 1994–2010 new identities that would reflect the relationship with the new social realities of post-Soviet transformations were presented in individual integral identities of representatives of both regional centers showed to be insufficient – more powerful was influence of the heritage of Soviet times with its identification model.
