Preparation and characterization of La0.9Sr0.1Ga0.8Mg0.2O3-δ by glycine-nitrate combustion method

Abstract

The intermediate-temperature electrolyte with perovskite-type La0.9Sr0.1Ga0.8Mg0.2O3-δ(LSGM) was synthesized using glycine-nitrate combustion and solid state reaction respectively. XRD, DC four-probe and SEM were applied to analyze the crystal structure, ionic conductivity and microstructure. The research results show that the single phase of the LSGM synthesized by glycine-nitrate combustion method can be obtained at a sintering temperature of 1400℃ for 2 h, which is obviously lower than that of LSGM prepared by solid state reaction method. A fine microstructure in the product was detected by SEM. Its conductivity reached 0.1 S•cm-1 at 850℃, which is higher than that of the LSGM prepared by solid state reaction method. It can be concluded that the glycine-nitrate combustion method is favorable in lowering the sintering temperature, enhancing the purity and improving the electrical property of the LSGM
