Preparation, mechanical properties and fracture of the optimal surface modified alumina silicate based ceramic particles reinforced polymer composites
Journal Title: Journal of New technology and Materials - Year 2016, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
Polyester resin was replete with a high percentage of surface-modified fly ash ceramic particles using a combination of sol-gel and handlay-up techniques. The characterizations of the fly ash powder showed that the ceramic particles were the spherical solid type and composed of both the glass and crystal phases. The composites were subjected to the mechanical and Charpy impact tests as well as the fracture studies. Consequently, the hardness was found to increase linearly. The required results derived from both the mechanical and impact tests indicated that a positive correlation was obtained. The tensile strength of the higher percentage was lowered due to the existence of large size particles and the elongation at break was decreased due to the restriction of the polyester molecular chain flexibility. Finally, the fracture surfaces of the excellent compositions indicated that the particles had strongly bonded with the polyester matrix. This is mostly due to the existence of reasonable (-OH) groups on the particle surfaces.

Effects of Nickel substitution on crystalline structure and superconducting properties of YBa2Cu3O7- ceramics.
In this study, nickel-substituted Y〖Ba〗_2 (〖Cu〗_(1-x) 〖Ni〗_x )_3 O_(7-δ) ( 0 ≤x ≤4 at.%) superconductor samples were prepared by the conventional solid state reaction method. The effects of Ni substitution on the s...
Preparation and characterization of CIS thin films obtained by electrodeposition onto ITO and Mo substrates
In this study, thin films of copper and indium selenide (CuInSe2) were electrochemically deposited on ITO glass substrates and Mo films. A three electrodes system is used for in-situ monitoring of the deposition process...
Electrical characterization of passivation layers for p-type multi crystalline silicon EWT solar cells by numerical simulation
In this study, the dielectric effects on solar cell efficiency were investigated. Different materials, such as Al2O3, HfO2, TiO2 and SiO2, were deposited by various techniques on the front side of a p-type EWT (Emitter W...
Theoretical investigation of δ-doped double barriers GaAs/AlGaAs RTDs at varying device geometry and temperature dependence
In this article, we proposed a new concept of Si-delta doping in double barrier resonant tunneling diode heterostructure. The double barrier resonant tunneling diodes (DBRTDs) are investigated through the technique of co...
Optimization of the surface initiated polymerization of molecular imprinted methacrylate polymer on gold electrode for the detection of testosterone
In this work a sensor based on moleculary imprinted polymer (MIP) was fabricated to detect testosterone which is an endocrine disruptor. The methacrylic MIP is polymerized on the gold electrode surface, through the graft...
