Present and potential security threats posed to civil aviation
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2012, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
Aircraft presents ideal object for terrorist attack. Apart from the risks posed by possible terrorist attacks on airborne aircraft, air terrorism includes the threats to general aviation on the ground, including airports and surrounding infrastructure. Air oriented terrorism in all of its forms can undermine public confidence in the safety of air travel, which could result in negative effects for certain airlines and other firms in aviation industry due to decline in passenger travel and cargo shipment. This article is giving an overview about the redoubtable present and potential future threats posed to in-flight security, and possibilities and solutions how to mitigate the risks on acceptable level.

A review of some basic aspects related to integration of airplane’s equations of motion
Numerical integration of the airplane’s equations of motion has long been considered among the most fundamental calculations in airplane’s analysis. Numerical algorithms have been implemented and experimentally validated...
Comparative Review Study of Military and Civilian Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)
Indian flying corps and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) forged long standing military ties, Israel aviation enterprises keeping up their strong position as best-in-class UAV manufacturers for both civilian and military...
Analytical solutions of the simplified Mathieu’s equation
Consider a second order differential linear periodic equation. The periodic coefficient is an approximation of the Mathieu’s coefficient. This equation is recast as a first-order homogeneous system. For this system we ob...
MDO approach for a two-stage microlauncher
The paper focuses on the multidisciplinary optimisation and preliminary design of a two-stage microlauncher capable of inserting a small 50 kg payload into Low Earth Orbit. The microlauncher is obtained using a MDO appro...
Determination of a Two Variable Approximation Function with Application to the Fuel Combustion Charts
Following the demands of the design and performance analysis in case of liquid fuel propelled rocket engines, as well as the trajectory optimization, the development of efficient codes, which frequently need to call the...
