Present and potential security threats posed to civil aviation
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2012, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
Aircraft presents ideal object for terrorist attack. Apart from the risks posed by possible terrorist attacks on airborne aircraft, air terrorism includes the threats to general aviation on the ground, including airports and surrounding infrastructure. Air oriented terrorism in all of its forms can undermine public confidence in the safety of air travel, which could result in negative effects for certain airlines and other firms in aviation industry due to decline in passenger travel and cargo shipment. This article is giving an overview about the redoubtable present and potential future threats posed to in-flight security, and possibilities and solutions how to mitigate the risks on acceptable level.

Velocity distribution as a result of the interaction between organizational processes in shear flows
This paper continues the recent research of the authors concerning the interaction between the micro and macro flow structure domains (further on called IPmMD). The authors propose a probabilistic type approach of the IP...
Engagement of the Slovak Armed Forces in Future Crisis Management Operations
During the past two decades, the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic (AF SR) have participated in more than thirty operations under major international organizations and coalitions. Despite the political interest to sust...
A Physical – Geometrical Model of an Early Universe
A physical-geometrical model for a possible early universe is proposed. One considers an initial singularity containing the energy of the whole universe. The singularity expands as a spherical wave at the speed of light...
Modelling the wear processes of the automotive brake pad and disc
The automotive disc braking system is based on the friction between a disc and two pads and this friction determines their wear. The theoretical study proposed in this paper aims to model this wear process. It is based o...
Mathematical and numerical modeling of inverse heat conduction problem
The present paper refers to the assessment of three numerical methods for solving the inverse heat conduction problem: the Alifanov’s iterative regularization method, the Tikhonov local regularization method and the Tikh...
