The Evaluation of the Boundary Vorticity by URANS and LES Methods
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2015, Vol 7, Issue 4
Abstract
The role of concentrated vorticity in fluid dynamics phenomena, concerning both the vorticity creation at the boundary and the response to the flow field is not wholly understood. The Lighthill describes the vorticity production at a solid boundary as a slow diffusion of the vorticity similar to the Fourier heat conduction. In the paper it is shown that this mechanism associated to URANS method is not applied to the concentrated vorticity case, and the LES method better reproduces the flows involving concentrations vorticity.

Numerical Simulations of Flow and Fuel Regression Rate Coupling in Hybrid Rocket Motors
The hybrid propulsion offers some remarkable advantages like high safety and high specific impulse and thus it is considered a promising technology for the next generation launchers and space systems. The purpose of this...
Cessna Citation X Business Aircraft Eigenvalue Stability– Part 1: a New GUI for the LFRs Generation
The aim of “Robustness Analysis” is to assess aircraft stability in the presence of all admissible uncertainties. Models that are able to describe the aircraft dynamics by taking into account all uncertainties over a reg...
Using genetic algorithms to optimize airfoils in incompressible regime
Aerodynamic optimization is a very actual problem in aircraft design and airfoils are basic two-dimensional shape forming cross sections of wings. Traditionally, the airfoil geometry if defined by a very large number of...
Experimental Methods for UAV Aerodynamic and Propulsion Performance Assessment
This paper presents an experimental method for assessing the performances and the propulsion power of a UAV in several points based on telemetry. The points in which we make the estimations are chosen based on several cr...
Stress analysis of toroidal shell
Stress analysis for a toroidal shell used for a flying platform. We will be comparing the results obtained by classical approach and by numerical method (finite element analysis).
