PRESENTATION OF THE COURSE «THEORY OF PROBABILITY AND MATHEMATICAL STATISTICS» IN THE CONTEXT OF THE PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES OF A CIVIL DEFENSE SPECIALIST

Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of teaching methods and methods of probability theory and mathematical statistics of future specialists in civil defense. The possible ways of increasing students’ motivation to study the discipline are indicated. Some changes in the course presentation aimed at developing the skills of applying probabilistic methods in the solving problem of forecasting and preventing emergencies, and evaluating their possible consequences are proposed. Requirements are formulated for the content and scope of professionally oriented assignments in probability theory and mathematical statistics. Features of the application of such tasks in the work of full-time and part-time students are considered. Methods for modeling the conditions for the future professional activity of EMERCOM employees in the probability theory classes are suggested. The possibilities and prospects of using the time limit allocated for solving applied problems are considered.New pedagogical approaches to the organization of students’ homework are suggested. Methodological principles for the development of the text of the test work, the formulation of the task on mathematical statistics, and the verification of the results of the performance of work are indicated for the correspondence form of instruction. Training for their methods of statistical data processing is suggested to be based on the operational data of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.A fragment of methodological developments in the discipline “Theory of Probability and Mathematical Statistics” is given for the direction of training 20.0.01 Technospheric security (profile – Protection in emergency situations) and specialties 20.05.01 Fire safety. Examples of professionally oriented assignments for different types of educational work and forms of training are considered.
