Presternal Scrofuloderma in a HIV Infected Patient Case Report and Discussion of the Literature Data

Journal Title: Journal of Clinical Medical Research - Year 2023, Vol 4, Issue 3

Abstract

Scrofuloderma is a cutaneous extension of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (and rarely Mycobacterium bovis or Calmette-Guerin bacillus) from a local focus. It is a rare form of extra-pulmonary tuberculosis, starting as a painless skin cold abscess that progresses to fistulisation and ulceration. This article presents a case of presternal scrofuloderma in a non-adherent to treatment HIV-infected patient with disseminated tuberculosis.
