PREVALENCE OF BACTERIA ASSOCIATED WITH INFECTIOUS INFERTILITY IN BOVINES OF MONTERIA, COLOMBIA

Journal Title: Revista MVZ Cordoba - Year 2007, Vol 12, Issue 2

Abstract

Objective. To establish prevalence of some germs associated with bovine infectious infertility in Monteria city. Materials and methods. 384 sera samples and same number of cervical swabs of females were collected that fulfilled some of the following criteria inclusion: more than three services without conception, virginities, cervicitis, metritis, endometritis, uterus with content, fetal mummification, stillborns, embryonic reabsorptions, antecedents of abortions and/or positive females to brucellosis. Cervical samples were cultivated in culture medium Mc conkey agar, blood agar, brucella agar and campylobacter agar. The suspected colonies biochemical tests were made and the confirmation was made with serologic tests. To serodiagnosis of brucella sera, were analyzed by Rose Bengal and the positive ones were confirmed with indirect ELISA Results. Of the 384 processed samples, there was growth in 281 (73,2%), the prevalent bacteria were Escherichia coli, Bacillus Gram Negative Oxidants, Klepsiella spp and Pseudomonas spp that yield to 194 (69,1%) five were positive for Campylobacter spp., isolates (1,8%) Serologic tests for Brucella gave as result 22 positive samples for ELISA (6,3%). Conclusions. The results of this work gave preliminary information on the bovine female infectious infertility demonstrating the presence of a great variety of microorganisms.
