PREVENTATION AND MANAGEMENT OF DIABETES THROUGH AYURVEDA IN CONTEXT OF MODERN LIFE STYLE

Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus is defined and clinical syndrome characterised by the raised sugar level in the blood due to impaired metabolism of the carbohydrates, proteins & fat. DM is presently pandemic with increased morbidity and mortality with multi organ dysfunction ranging from peripheral blood vessels to the cardiac & nervous system. DM is become the part of the Metabolic syndrome along with the central obesity, hyperlipidemia and hypertension. Presently WHO has come out newer version Dia-Besity the people who are both Diabetes & obese, also the obese people more prone for getting DM. Sedentary life style and stress at present responsible for many diseases called LSD-Life Style Disorders and top most among them being Diabetes Mellitus – a perfect example for a lifestyle disorder. Present day life is more of sedentary not doing exercises, eating junk food, high energy drinks and beverages. Increased weight and the excess of adipose tissue gives rise insulin resistance – a clinical manifestation in which insulin is not able to utilized by the body tissues and leads to hyperglycemia, most important pathological manifestation in Diabetes mellitus type 2 (DMT2).
