Prezydent Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej jako organ stojący na straży bezpieczeństwa państwa

Abstract
The article deals with problems defming the status of the President of Poland as a body safeguarding the security of the state. An essential part of Polish President’s tasks covers defence matters. Defence tasks are part of tasks in the national security area as a particular initiative undertaken by public authorities’ bodies (the President including) and other entities to prepare state institutions for effective actions and survival in case of threat. Ensuring security of the state must be perceived in categories of obligation, the execution of which bears responsibility. The Constitution of the Republic of Poland designates the range of tasks for the President to fulfil and defines the limits and character of his/her political system function. The power connected with safeguarding security does not have an exclusive character as it is executed together with other public authorities’ bodies.
