Principles of Biomedical Ethics and Its Social and Psychological Realities in Ukraine

Abstract

Bioethics as one of the ethical science can be regarded as a system of views, ideas, standards and assessments that govern human behaviour from a position of preserving life. Bioethics explores and studies ecological, biomedical, social and legal problems, concerning not only human, but all things on the Earth. The main objective of the bioethics is the preservation of human’s life and health from the moment of fertilization to natural death; respecting the dignity of the human individual in the spiritual, psychic and bodily integrity. But despite on the large number of scientific publications in the sphere of bioethics and legal settlement attempts ethical principles of medicine in practical activities of any doctor emerging issues that are difficult to answer. Thus, the aim of this research is to identify the main principles of bioethics and ascertain of their social and psychological realities on the experience of our doctors. When the basic principles of biomedical ethics were created, it determined the ethic code of a doctor in Ukraine. In this paragraph the author indicates the research, which was conducted among doctors to identify the social and psychological realities of using the principles of biomedical ethics in practice. The author analysed the usage of the principles of biomedical ethics in some areas of medicine. We are able to conclude that unfortunately the range of outstanding issues of biomedical ethics is quite wide and requires of improvements. In the opinion V. R. Potter, today we have a good opportunity to make the first steps to decent joint prospects for all us, because from the beginning bioethics was declared by him as a bridge to the future. The modern bioethics is the art of prediction and prevention of adverse effects caused by implementation and realization of scientific developments.
