PRIORITIES FOR AGRICULTURE SUPPORT SERVICES IN THE IRRIGATION AND DRAINAGE AREAS IN GEORGIA

Abstract
The problem of rational use of pure water and its protection has became extremely acute lately due to the deepening of the ecological crisis, limited potential of natural water resources and dramatic decreases in land fertility. This has result to reduce efficiency in production, and deterioration of the quality of foodstuffs. The ecological state of the land in Georgia is critical. Many areas suffer from water erosion and the structure of growing of crops and the sizes of land plots both works against prosperity. The intensity of destructive processes increase as a result of a lack of anti-erosion measures and the violation of technological recommendations. Water is the most plentiful resource of terrestrial elements. It covers more than 70 percents of a terrestrial surface, and volume equals by approximately 1,4 milliard of cubic kilometers. In a case of spilling out given amount over the all planet, the layer by thickness almost in three kilometers will be formed, nevertheless, just a small amount is really used; somewhere 0,003 percents. Most of all waters - about 97 percents - are in the seas and oceans, but for many purposes it is not necessary due to its quite high contents of salt. Among remaining 3 percents – almost 87 percents - is grinded in captivity of polar ice or in depths of the Earth.
