PRIORITY OF PERSONALITY-ORIENTED EDUCATION IN THE MODERN PARADIGM OF UNIVERSITY EDUCATION

Abstract
The main task of higher education is to train a specialist who can think initiatively and creatively, to replenish knowledge independently, and then apply it in practical activity, a specialist ready to self-development, self-education, and innovative activity. The success of specialists’ training depends on many factors, one of which is the students’ self-study. In the process of introducing modular system of training in higher school, a considerable part of educational material is intended for self-study by the students. The main task of the teacher in higher school is the organization of active self-study for students but not simply reproductive layout of the material. German pedagogue A. Disterveg said: “Development and education cannot be given or reported to anyone. Any person wishing to tap to them should achieve it personally, through personal activity, own efforts, own intensifying efforts”. Self-study is an inevitable part of educational and bringing-up process. It is especially important nowadays, in the conditions of informational boom, when the student faces the task to acquire more and more information. Self-study organization requires special double attention. At present time, educational practice needs adaptation to new humanistic values of educational establishments, which are constantly changing and transforming. According to humanistic paradigm, the main value of the university education is the person with his/her abilities and interests. In the university, a student must get education and choose the sphere of professional activity according to both social importance and personal interests that secures self-realization of personality. Analysis of the development of various aspects of the specified problem demonstrated insufficient study of questions connected with the improvement of quality and performance of students’ self-study. The students of colleges are poorly adapted to such volume work, especially during the first year of study. That is why at present time, learner-centered education is the priority in the field of national education.
