ПРОБЛЕМАТИКА ЧУЖОГО В СИСТЕМІ ЦІННОСТЕЙ УКРАЇНСЬКОЇ ДІАСПОРНОЇ ЛІТЕРАТУРИ ДЛЯ ДІТЕЙ ТА ЮНАЦТВА

Abstract
У статті розглядається проблематика Чужого на матеріалі літератури для дітей та юнацтва та критики української діаспори. Визначено три аспекти, що розкривають реалізацію топосу Чужого. Перший – гетеро-образ, що в позитивному забарвленні розкриває інокультурні образи народів. Другий – гетеро-образ з негативною конотацією як означення ворожого, небезпечного. Третій – авто-образ, його еволюція в літературі та критиці української діаспори. The article deals with the problem of The Alien based on the subject matter of literature for children and youth, and critique of the Ukrainian Diaspora. It is emphasized that children's literature of the Ukrainian Diaspora reveals not only Ukrainian constants – the nation, the person and Ukrainian values. Other nations’ cultures are also dwelled upon in this literature, and the literary works for the Ukrainian Diaspora children actualize ethical concepts, including Justice, Care, Equality, Love, Tolerance, Patience, Self-esteem, etc. This paper’s goals include determining models of The Alien on the subject matter of children's literature and critique of the Ukrainian Diaspora using modern interpretive strategies. Three aspects, revealing the implementation of The Alien topos, are specified. First aspect of the problem of The Alien in the system of values of Ukrainian Diaspora is about experiencing The Alien as The Own and vice versa. The image of The Other, or the hetero-image in the artists’ works, manifested as a natural process of understanding history and culture of a particular country. In this respect, the hetero-image possesses positive connotation. Thus, in the literary works for children, a dialogue was conducted with The Other – on tolerance, patience, mercy, which at the same time reveals internal monologue of the characters in their loneliness, separated from motherland. The second aspect is a hetero-image with negative connotation as definition of the hostile and the dangerous. On the one hand, The Alien is explained as an enemy that represents negation, something predatory, destructive, and alien to the world of The Own. On the other hand – The Alien facilitates self-discovery in marginal situations through existential states of fear, despair, and aversion to exercising the freedom of choice. This was the way the issues of freedom and non-freedom, both external and internal, were considered in the Ukrainian Diaspora. That’s why contrasting colonial/imperial and national discourses is present throughout the critical and creative heritage of the Diaspora. The third aspect is about evolution of the image of foreign land, and revealing the auto-image. In the works of the Ukrainian Diaspora writers, meant for children and youth, ambiguous interpretations of the notions of «foreign land» and «motherland» are present. For a long time, Ukrainian Diaspora mused upon these images in creative work; they were subjects to change with each new generation. Thus, the images of foreign land as homeland and motherland as foreign land became interconnected concepts.
