Problems in the Social Environment of Male Students’ Who Study in Nursing Department

Abstract
This research aimed to determine the problems of male nursing students which they experience in their social lives in a cross-sectional design with 31(56.6%) volunteered male students. Students had problems because of the female image of community about nursing, jealousy, inadequate communication with the female nursing students, being exposed to cold jokes, patients’ and their caregivers’ exclusion because of inadequacy prejudice and gender discrimination. Male nursing students mostly had problems in the clinic, so that being supported by instructors/supervisors at the clinics and making explanations to the patients and their caregivers about male nurses in nursing are important.
