Problems of research of watercolor painting in the context of the contemporary art culture of Ukraine

Abstract
The purpose of the research is to examine stages of development of watercolor painting in contemporary art culture, which combines traditions of well-known artists and innovative artists of a new generation and to highlight the modern methods of research taking into account the peculiarities of development of watercolor painting in Ukraine. Research methodology is formed with due consideration of set purpose, which makes it possible to use scientific, historical, scientific-theoretical, comparative and descriptive methods. Scientific novelty lies in the identification of creative searches in the field of watercolor painting, which is in the context of contemporary art development with all the variety of its manifestations. Therefore, the necessity of development of new research methods of watercolor study is growing. Conclusions. Taking into account rich historical heritage in watercolor painting and new trends, introduced by artists of Ukraine it is possible to separate the modern research methods for studying traditional and innovative watercolor movements, in particular comparative-historical, comparative-stylistic, and specifically historical and biographical.
