Abstract
Autor artykułu przedstawia problemy ochrony i obrony wojsk w operacjach prowadzonych poza granicami kraju, głównie w Afganistanie i w Iraku. Skala i rodzaje zagrożeń występujących podczas wykonywania zadań w operacjach tam prowadzonych, stawiają zupełnie nowe wyzwania przed wojskami lądowymi. Z realizacją zadań wiąże się duży stopień zagrożenia wojsk, spowodowany działalnością terrorystyczną. Jak wskazują doświadczenia ostatnich lat, każdego dnia żołnierze wchodzący w skład kontyngentów wojskowych, rozmieszczonych w rejonach najbardziej kryzysowych, narażeni są na ryzyko utraty zdrowia lub życia.
