Proceso enfermero en paciente pediátrico con meningitis e hidrocefalia

Journal Title: Revista Eugenio Espejo - Year 2017, Vol 11, Issue 2

Abstract

The study describes the nursing process in a pediatric patient with meningitis and hydrocephalus, using Marjory Gordon’s functional health standards at the hospital level and the parent-child environment interaction model by Kathryn Barnard at home. In-hospital diagnoses were prioritized based on the NANDA taxonomies regarding ineffective respiratory pattern, hyperthermia, constipation, acute pain, risk of infection and aspiration. The nutritional imbalance lower than the corporal needs, poor knowledge and anxiety of the parents, deterioration of the physical mobility and risk of fatigue of the caregiver role are identified during the home visits. The results demonstrate that reduction of anxiety prevent fatigue in the caregiver. Family integrity is achieved; and the same time this acquires the necessary knowledge to provide specific care for the child. In addition, it prevents and identifies complications in order to improve his/her quality of life.
